The Book of Games: Strategy, Tactics & History

5 Jan

Book ImageI was in Chapters the other day and picked up this little gem of a book.

It was written by Jack Botermans who has put out other titles on games, puzzles and even paper airplanes.

If you like Game Design go get yourself a copy. I’ve barely cracked the surface and it’s already fantastic. Think of it like a 700 super-sized page encyclopedia primarily about historical games. There’s history, evolution and even opening move strategy.

Oh, and lots of pictures!

For a lot of people this would just be a cool coffee table book, a conversation piece worth flipping through. But for game designers this is a great resource, reference and source of hours of entertainment.

Pick it up if you can, it only set me back 25 dollars.

Here’s a link to the Chapters site where you can order it online.
